KOTA MELAKA — Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for Kesidang, Albert Kok Boon Chang, has chided DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke for demanding the release of the Pardons Board minutes regarding former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s house arrest order.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Albert claimed Loke’s demands were politically motivated to win over Chinese voters ahead of the Melaka State Election. He stressed that the power to grant a pardon or house arrest lies strictly under the discretionary prerogative of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as provided in the Federal Constitution. Therefore, official Pardons Board minutes remain classified national documents that must not be questioned for political gain.
Deeming Loke’s statements seditious and a betrayal of the Constitution, Albert confirmed he lodged a formal police report against the Transport Minister at the Batu Berendam police station. He warned that repeatedly challenging the monarch’s authority threatens the sovereignty of the Royal Institution.
