PN Receives Show‑Cause Notice From ROS

Perikatan Nasional (PN) has confirmed receiving a show‑cause notice from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on September 22, 2026, giving the coalition 30 days to respond to possible deregistration. 

PN secretary‑general Takiyuddin Hassan described the move as “a result of a malicious agenda” and said the coalition will take immediate legal steps to defend its legitimacy.

PN Activities Suspended Under Societies Act

The notice stems from a complaint lodged by Bersatu regarding a meeting held on July 16. PN also received an order under Section 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966, suspending all activities until further notice. 

Both documents were delivered on September 22 and 23, coinciding with the dissolution of the Melaka state assembly.

ROS clarified that the notice does not amount to deregistration but provides PN an opportunity to explain the complaint. In response, PN issued a gag order restricting public statements to its chairman and secretary‑general.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang expressed confidence that the matter will be handled according to law and principles of consultation. PN pledged transparency, promising to share documents and updates with the public as the process unfolds.
