PADANG BESAR – The Home Ministry (KDN) will station Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officers at petrol stations near border areas to prevent fuel smuggling and leakage. Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the move follows Cabinet directives amid the Middle East crisis, which has sharply increased government fuel subsidy costs.

Monitoring will focus on more than 80 identified border stations out of 4,000 nationwide. Saifuddin noted subsidies for petrol and diesel have risen from RM700 million monthly to nearly RM6 billion. He stressed strict enforcement is vital to safeguard Malaysia’s economy from worsening impacts of uncontrolled leakages.
