Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Police says it will not accept MITI letters for interstate travel between July 18 and 21.

It says this is to prevent any abuse of the letters with Hari Raya Aidiladha approaching. The notice comes after a rise in the number of vehicles on the road in the past two days, says BFM.

Yesterday, a report in Latest Malaysia says there is a spike in inter-state travel in the country with the Eid ul Adha approaching.

Netizens are asking whether allowing inter-state travel ahead of the Eid ul Adha celebrations next week will spark a rise in COVID-19 cases?

Nevertheless, authorities urge those crossing borders to have proper documentation.

The local Malay daily Kosmos reports the police saying the vehicles are from northern states entering Kelantan through roadblocks in Jeli yesterday.
