Bali Governor I Wayan Koster confirmed a foreigners‑only running event in Canggu was held without permits, sparking backlash over discrimination and immigration violations.

Organized by Entourage Run, the “Silent Disco” barred Indonesians, prompting investigations. Two Dutch organizers have since been blacklisted, while authorities stress future events must report to local officials.

Many are drawing parallels to how locals in Thailand and the Philippines sometimes feel sidelined or mistreated in their own countries, especially in tourist‑heavy areas.
