Kuala Lumpur: Politicians in Malaysia are not loyal to their parties and are “quite happy” to switch parties, says Peter Mumford, practice head for Southeast The political situation in Malaysia is a “recipe for instability,” Peter Mumford, practice head for Southeast and South Asia at risk consultancy Eurasia Group.

The new PM is leading an unstable coalition that is sticking together by a string. Some of the coalition components are saying their condition for Sabri to become PM was conditional.

Speaking to CNBC Mimford says the political situation in Malaysia is a “recipe for instability,” adding that only if a party wins a large majority in the next GE then there will be a more stable government.
