Rafizi: Don’t Turn E-Invoice Into Racial Politics Now

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2, 2026 – Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli has urged Malaysians not to let the debate over e-invoicing be hijacked by racial politics, stressing that the policy should be judged on its effectiveness, fairness, and impact on businesses.

Rafizi said both Malay and Chinese traders face similar challenges from increased bureaucracy, rising costs, and more complex processes. He added that larger issues such as the shadow economy, illegal businesses, corruption, and living costs must be addressed with greater seriousness.

“Don’t let racial politics cover up policy failures. The people want solutions, not rhetoric,” he said, calling for Malaysia’s politics to move beyond ethnic sentiment and focus on policies that deliver real benefits.

He reminded Malaysians that all communities share the same struggles. “Malays, Chinese, Indians and all races are not enemies. We face the same problems together,” Rafizi stressed.
