A borrower who took an RM150 loan but couldn’t repay it was allegedly forced to commit arson under threats to their life and family. The case, revealed by Adam Mustapa from the Darul Muttaqim Ah Long Combat Unit, highlights how victims are coerced into crimes like house-burning and vandalism.
RM150 Loan Spirals into Arson and RM70,000 Debt
In return, small portions of their mounting debt are “written off.” Some victims reported debts growing from RM150 to RM70,000. Since 2022, the group has handled over 2,000 such cases. Loan sharks lure borrowers into violence, turning them into enforcers under duress to target others who also fail to repay.
