Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim revealed a RM5 billion project to boost padi yields and improve farmers’ livelihoods. Speaking at the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Anwar stressed the importance of enhancing rice production for food security and farmer welfare. The initiative includes upgrading irrigation systems in the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) region and expanding padi cultivation by 30,000 hectares over two years. Anwar called for unified efforts from all ministries to meet food production targets and address challenges in the agricultural sector.
