KUALA LUMPUR – PKR leader Sim Tze Tzin has lauded Tengku Zafrul Aziz as an energetic, moderate, and globally minded technocrat with a proven track record in government and corporate leadership. Sim recalled Zafrul’s role as finance minister during the Covid-19 pandemic, navigating complex challenges and later, as MITI minister, helping secure record-high foreign and domestic investments. He also credited Zafrul for negotiating a reduction in US tariffs from 25% to 19%, benefiting Malaysian industries. Sim said Zafrul’s breadth of local and global experience is rare in Malaysian politics. Yesterday, Zafrul officially announced his decision to join PKR.
