New: Woman Killed After Car Crashes Into Dining Area at Kajang Food Centre

KAJANG, Aug 22, 2026 – A 47‑year‑old woman was killed instantly when a pole collapsed onto her head during a chaotic scene at a food court in Bandar Mahkota, Cheras.

Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the incident began when a 35‑year‑old driver mistakenly accelerated, crashing into the dining area. As he attempted to flee, the victim ran forward to block his vehicle. The car struck a nearby pole, which toppled and fatally hit her.

Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene due to severe head injuries. The driver, who has no prior criminal record, was arrested and is receiving hospital treatment.

Police confirmed investigations are underway under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.
