PETALING JAYA: Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai Jemie reached their first World Tour Super 1000 final at the China Open, achieving a major milestone in their mixed doubles career. The Malaysian pair triumphed over China’s Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi, 21-18, 21-18, in a tightly contested semifinal at Changzhou’s Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium. This victory was particularly sweet, as they avenged losses to the same pair in their last two encounters. Having already won the Swiss Open and Malaysian Masters this year, Soon Huat-Shevon now face a tough final against either world No. 3 Feng-Huang or Indonesia’s Dejan-Gloria.
