GEORGE TOWN, Aug 5, 2026 – Penang DAP chairman Steven Sim has dismissed Pas’ confidence of capturing Penang in the next general election, calling the remarks “arrogant.” Sim was responding to Pas information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, who claimed that the current political wave would enable Perikatan Nasional (PN) to win Penang. Speaking at the Tanjung@40 dinner, Sim said such statements reflected overconfidence. “They are winning now, yes. But they have become arrogant and conceited, and so they are making arrogant statements,” he remarked.

Sim stressed that DAP and Pakatan Harapan (PH) would continue working hard to defend Penang and every seat they hold. Meanwhile, Fadhli alleged on social media that PH was on its “last legs” and predicted BN-PN could win every state in Peninsular Malaysia if their formula continued. The remarks came as BN and PN formed the Negeri Sembilan government after securing a combined 25-seat majority.
