Steven Sim, who is Malaysia’s second deputy Minister of Finance has taken to Twitter with regards to the scams that are going around in our country. Apparently, an elderly man has been unfairly scammed of RM50,000 from his Amanah Saham account.

Steven Sim praised for his willingness to help

The elderly man, En Kamaruddin was told to be in tears almost everyday. For an 85-year-old man, that is a lot of money missing. Money that can be used to help with his medical bills, or with his daily necessities.

Apparently with the financial forensics, they found out that it was a household staff who scammed the 85-year-old man out of RM50,000. Statistics shown by Steven Sim that 37% of digital deposits have their passwords shared among other people. It is a high percentage considering that passwords should not be shared with others.

Netizens are querying if they can get a form of insurance for their bank savings in lieu with the scams rising. Other netizens are asking that if we get scammed, do we have to make it a national issue for it to be solved? As it appears that if nobody approached the second deputy Minister of Finance, this case might have not been solved at all.
