1 min read

KUCHING, Feb 20 — The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Sarawak has issued an immediate stop‑work order at a construction site in Stutong Baru after a crane toppled and crashed onto two neighbouring houses on Feb 12. The department said two prohibition notices were also served on the company involved. Preliminary investigations found that the rough‑terrain crane failed to maintain stability, causing it to overturn.

While the incident resulted in major property damage, no members of the public were injured. The crane operator sustained minor injuries. The case is being investigated under Section 15 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, which carries a maximum fine of RM500,000.
