Police are investigating under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, with more than 80 reports lodged nationwide. Pua affirmed he authored the post himself, explaining its intent was to share his views on the Rukun Negara.

The post followed a decree by the Sultan of Selangor advising politicians to better understand the historical meaning of the Rukun Negara. Pua thanked supporters for their solidarity, ending his update with a smiley emoji.
