KUALA LUMPUR, 22 May — Former Damansara MP Tony Pua has given his statement to police regarding a Facebook post on royal decrees and the Rukun Negara. Pua said his statement was recorded in Petaling Jaya at 4pm after being contacted by Shah Alam police earlier in the day. He confirmed full cooperation with officers, noting the process took about 40 minutes.

Police are investigating under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, with more than 80 reports lodged nationwide. Pua affirmed he authored the post himself, explaining its intent was to share his views on the Rukun Negara.
The post followed a decree by the Sultan of Selangor advising politicians to better understand the historical meaning of the Rukun Negara. Pua thanked supporters for their solidarity, ending his update with a smiley emoji.
