- Partnership integrates Sandoz biosimilars into Alpro Pharmacy’s OncoHelp programme to support patients from government hospitals with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
- Collaboration broadens treatment pathways for NHL and RA patients through access to quality-assured biosimilar medicines
- Initiative reinforces a shared commitment by Sandoz and Alpro Pharmacy to improve continuity of care and stronger patient access
Kuala Lumpur, May 22, 2026 – Sandoz (SIX:SDZ/OTCQX) the global leader in affordable medicines, and Alpro Pharmacy, the prescription pharmacy chain in Malaysia, today formalised a strategic collaboration through a Collaboration Agreement aimed at improving patient access to quality treatment in Malaysia, particularly for patients living with cancer and chronic immune-related conditions such as Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). The collaboration also marks the introduction of the first biosimilar treatment under Alpro Pharmacy’s OncoHelp Programme for both NHL and RA patients.
Through this collaboration, Sandoz biosimilar medicines will be integrated into Alpro Pharmacy’s OncoHelpPatient Navigation Programme, strengthening support for patients referred from government hospitals by improving access, continuity of care and patient support beyond hospital settings.
Alpro Pharmacy’s OncoHelp programme is a one-stop support service created to help cancer patients and their families throughout their treatment journey. The programme aims to make cancer care more accessible and easier to navigate for Malaysians
This initiative reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to treatment while supporting a more sustainable healthcare ecosystem in Malaysia. It combines the expertise of Sandoz in biosimilars with Alpro Pharmacy’s nationwide community pharmacy network and patient support capabilities.
Speaking at the event, Christine Chong, Country Head of Sandoz Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, said “Biosimilars play an increasingly important role in broadening patient access to established and quality-assured treatment options, particularly in oncology and chronic immune-related diseases, where treatment journeys are often long-term and require sustained access, continuity of care and ongoing patient support. In Malaysia, NHL ranked as the eighth most common cancer in the country. Treatment is often long-term and costly, creating significant financial and emotional challenges for patients and their families. This makes support programmes such as Alpro Pharmacy’s OncoHelp important in helping patients access more affordable treatment and continuous care support.”

“At Sandoz, our purpose is to pioneer access to medicines. By working together with healthcare providers and community pharmacy partners like Alpro, we can help bring treatment closer to patients and support better continuity of care beyond hospital settings. More importantly, expanding access to biosimilars can help reduce treatment barriers for patients requiring long-term therapy, enabling more patients to stay on treatment consistently and improving overall access to quality care within the community.”
Joelle Wong Pei Sen, Alpro OncoHelp Program Lead of Alpro Pharmacy, said community pharmacies have an important role to play in supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.
“Community pharmacies are often the most accessible point of care for patients. Through the OncoHelpprogramme, we support patients through counselling, medication guidance, adherence support, and ongoing care coordination to help ensure continuity of care beyond the hospital environment.
“This collaboration reflects a shared commitment towards improving patient support, accessibility, and continuity of care for individuals managing long-term and complex health conditions. The programme is currently supporting thousands of families and is expected to benefit more patients nationwide by strengthening access to structured, community-based healthcare support.”.
Malaysia continues to face growing challenges in the management of cancer and chronic immune-related diseases. NHL, a type of blood cancer affecting the lymphatic system, accounts for approximately 4% of new cancer cases in Malaysia and is often diagnosed at a later stage, making timely access to treatment critical.
Meanwhile, RA, a chronic autoimmune disease that can progressively affect joint function and quality of life, requires long-term disease management and sustained access to appropriate treatment and care support.
Held at Alpro Pharmacy’s headquarters in Sendayan, the event also featured a healthcare roundtable themed Making Essential Immunology & Oncology Medicine Accessible, Affordable, and Convenient for All, which brought together healthcare professionals and industry representatives including Dr. Wong Yih Seong, Hematologist at Hospital Sultanah Aminah, and Associate Professor Dr. Fariz bin Yahya, Rheumatologist at University Malaya Medical Centre, to discuss treatment access challenges in Malaysia and the role biosimilars can play in transforming patient care.
