WASHINGTON, Aug 18 — President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Oman, a US ally, if it “gets in the way” of his administration’s negotiations with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Fox News reported. The waterway, crucial to global oil and gas trade, has been largely closed for nearly six months since the US–Iran war began in February.
Trump’s remarks, made during a phone interview with Fox, came as Iranian officials said they were close to finalising a deal with Oman. The president dismissed extending a 60-day Memorandum of Understanding with Tehran, telling BBC News: “No.”Bomb

Oman, which borders the southern side of the strait, has positioned itself as a neutral mediator despite suffering strikes from Iran.
