1 min read

A woman was allegedly seen drinking alcohol on an MRT train along the East‑West Line towards Pasir Ris on April 27, leaving commuters uneasy. Stomper Nor, who boarded at Bugis, said the cup emitted a strong smell of alcohol and was nearly empty by Paya Lebar. Passengers noticed but avoided confrontation.

Nor urged operators to enforce the no‑drinking rule more strictly. Under Rapid Transit Systems Regulations, eating and drinking are prohibited, with offenders facing fines up to $500. SMRT has been contacted for comment as the incident, captured in a photo, sparked debate over commuter safety and enforcement. A stomper is a person who reports to the website Stomp.sg.
