Wong Chen Now Seeks Forgiveness From Subang Voters

1 min read

SUBANG, Aug 13, 2026 – Former Subang MP Wong Chen has apologised to his constituents for resigning before the dissolution of Parliament, acknowledging the disappointment his early departure may have caused. “I could have waited until Parliament was dissolved, but I chose to resign. It is my way of saying sorry to the people,” Wong said, stressing that his decision was driven by a broader responsibility to defend democracy and pursue reforms.

In the November 2022 general election, Pakatan Harapan candidate Wong Chen won the Subang parliamentary seat with a massive majority of 115,074 votes.

Wong explained that while he had served diligently for over a decade, current circumstances demanded a new path. He has now joined Bersama, pledging to contribute to the party’s policy proposals and reform agenda. In a bid to reassure residents, Wong announced plans to open a new Bersama office in Subang, even as the process of removing his former parliamentary signage begins. “I want to assure the people that I am still here. I am still Wong Chen they know,” he said.

Despite stepping down, Wong emphasised his continued commitment to Subang, noting that feedback on social media showed 80–90% of responses were positive. “I really need to go out, explain to the community, and apologise for letting them down,” he added.
