KUALA LUMPUR – Thirty-three men who were previously fined for participating in a riot at a Cheras entertainment center now face heavier punishment after the High Court ordered them jailed for 10 months. Judge Datuk Aslam Zainuddin made the ruling during a review of the Magistrate’s Court decision, which had imposed fines last week.

The men, aged 19 to 57, admitted to rioting and possessing weapons including firearms, explosives, wood, and stones during the April 5 incident. One suspect failed to appear and was issued a warrant of arrest. The prosecution was led by Datuk Mohd. Nordin Ismail.
