Bangladesh has once again urged the international community to strengthen efforts in protecting civilians, upholding international humanitarian law, and ensuring sustained support for the safe and voluntary repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar.

Deputy Foreign Minister Shama Obaed Islam stressed the need for greater accountability over violations of humanitarian law and called for more investment in conflict prevention. Speaking at a UN ECOSOC humanitarian panel in New York, she highlighted the importance of closer cooperation between humanitarian, peace, and development agencies.
Shama also emphasised women’s role in peacebuilding, raised concerns about digital abuse, and warned that reduced aid funding could heighten risks for vulnerable refugees.
