Compared to the state elections in March, where BN won more than two-thirds of the seats, the upcoming parliamentary elections are predicted to be a much tighter race say sources on the ground in Johor where both the BN and the PH are in a tough fight.
Both outgoing PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob and PM candidate Anwar Ibrahim had warm welcomes with supporters wanting to take selfies with them in rallies in Johor. Whether this indicates both sides are in a tough fight, it is hard to say. But in March, the situation was different.
Tough Fight
An expert says, based on data collected from the 2018 national polls and the 2022 state elections, BN only received 17,000 more votes, even though the electorate grew by 1.2 million in the state. With UNDI18 there is no guarantee which party will gain more votes from the youngsters but if more people vote, then it might be more difficult for BN.
