KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 — According to Bernama, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Special Branch’s Counter Terrorism Division (E8) successfully foiled 26 attempted terrorist and militant attacks between 2012 and 2024. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said two attacks were carried out, including the 2016 Puchong pub bombing and the 2024 Ulu Tiram Police Station assault.

Authorities detained 75 suspects linked to Islamic State-inspired ideology, many charged under SOSMA, POTA, or POCA. Preventive laws enabled early intervention, thwarting plots involving IEDs, firearms, and targeted attacks on embassies, public venues, and strategic facilities.
