Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has revealed that unpaid rent for People’s Housing Project (PPR) and Public Housing (PA) units has reached RM70 million, significantly impacting facility maintenance and services.

Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif said steps to recover arrears include cutting water supply, issuing notices, financial counselling, and offering instalment plans. She also raised the possibility of reviving the sale of units to eligible tenants, a policy suspended since 2015.
Speaking at the Safe City Community Wellbeing Programme, she also addressed broader urban issues such as waste management, traffic congestion, and drug abuse in DBKL-supervised areas.
