Kuala Lumpur: The former health minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad says contract medical workers should not be the subject of disciplinary action after yesterday’s Hartal Kontrak protest.
Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad says the group only wanted a reasonable solution, namely their appointment through a transparent process, the opportunity to further their studies and fair treatment.
He stresses that the protest was the last step in the appeal for their welfare to be protected without being punished by the government.
“I remind you of this because this is an important note for me to raise and we should consistently fight for their welfare,” he says in a speech on the second day of the special sitting of Parliament today.
He also says Pakatan Harapan fought for the rights of workers under Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as PM.
