Opposition Demanding Answers On Emergency Ordinances

Kuala Lumpur: On the Day 2 of the Parliament sitting, the Opposition MPs are demanding clarification from the PN government on the status of the emergency ordinances.

Opposition MPs, headed by Anwar Ibrahim say they do not want to wait until Monday next week for clarification from the government.

Anwar says he is 100 per cent certain the King is not aware of the revocation of the emergency.

Minister Takiyuddin Hassan today declined to answer questions on the emergency. Anwar claims Takiyuddin’s refusal to answer meant the king had not assented to revoking the ordinance on July 21.

The opposition queried the validity of his announcement that emergency ordinances were revoked.

Anwar calls Takiyuddin’s statement a bluff, saying he believes there’s no formal revocation of the ordinance.

Earlier lawmakers demanded to know whether the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had revoked the emergency ordinances.
