REMBAU, July 26, 2026 – Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has predicted that Malaysia’s next general election (GE) could be held as early as the end of this year, depending on the Prime Minister’s decision. Speaking at a program with the Kuala Sawah polling district center, Mohamad said Parliament could continue until mid-2027, but he believes dissolution may come sooner. “If the Prime Minister feels uneasy, he will dissolve Parliament. My estimate is that at the latest, Parliament will last until mid next year,” he remarked.
Early General Election
Mohamad emphasized that the current state election serves as a crucial preparation for BN ahead of the GE. He confirmed his intention to defend the Rembau parliamentary seat, stressing the need for stability and competitiveness at the international level. He added BN must manage the state polls well to strengthen voter confidence and ensure readiness for the national contest.
