PUTRAJAYA, Oct 11 — The government will maintain the minimum consultation fee for general practitioners (GPs) at RM10 to ease the burden on uninsured Malaysians, said Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad.
He said the move ensures continued access to basic medical care while allowing GPs flexibility through a higher ceiling fee of RM80, up from RM35.

Dzulkefly said the revised range reflects service complexity and encourages GPs to manage non-communicable diseases more effectively.
However, the Malaysian Medical Association expressed disappointment that the RM10 minimum remains unchanged, calling it outdated under the 1992 MMA Fee Schedule.
