The Malaysian Government has requested an indicative price for the possible acquisition of Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd (DTSB), a wholly owned subsidiary of NexG Bhd and a major supplier involved in Malaysia’s MyKad and passport systems. NexG said its board has made a preliminary internal assessment valuing DTSB at approximately RM7.5 billion.
NexG described DTSB as its core business and “crown jewel”, warning that selling the unit would effectively leave the listed group without a core operating business. The company said no decision or agreement has been reached with the government, and any potential transaction remains subject to further discussions.

NexG said any deal must reflect fair value, treat shareholders equally and preserve the security and continuity of Malaysia’s national identity capabilities. The company stressed that its RM7.5 billion figure is only a preliminary internal valuation, not an independent valuation or firm offer. DTSB’s assessed value is significantly above NexG’s current market capitalisation of about RM1.04 billion.
NexG’s Datasonic Technologies has been preliminarily valued at RM7.5 billion as the government considers a possible acquisition.
