Sabah Deputy Chief Minister and STAR president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan dismissed corruption allegations against him as a political conspiracy designed to destabilise local party coalitions. Speaking at STAR’s 9th anniversary event, Jeffrey suggested “invisible hands” were orchestrating a trap, questioning why his group was implicated only at the end of the scandal. Although unsure of the mastermind, he believed vested interests were targeting the current state government. Jeffrey labelled the issue as an old tactic repeatedly used over the past decade and described a viral video implicating him as planned evidence of the conspiracy against Sabah’s leadership stability.
