Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli hit back at Umno’s Puad Zarkashi after Puad warned him that criticising the government could lead to legal action. Rafizi sarcastically reminded Puad that his only criminal charges came under Puad’s watch as Jasa director-general, when he faced 14 cases and was jailed for leaking banking data and breaching the Official Secrets Act. Rafizi noted he was eventually acquitted or released on bond. He criticised Puad for being part of the system that targeted him and insisted he never abused power while in office, contrasting his record with Puad’s warnings, which he dismissed outright.
