DAP’s Lim Guan Eng (Air Putih) pressed Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to explain why the controversial RM1 billion Jelutong landfill rehabilitation project has not been cancelled despite repeated delays and five Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) rejections.

Lim noted the Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with PLB Engineering, signed in 2020, has been extended four times, with the latest ending in February. He asked why Chow’s promise to cancel the deal if work failed to start was not honoured. Lim also urged postponement of higher land taxes and water tariff hikes, warning they would burden households and businesses.
