According to Shin Min Daily News, Lim, 61, was detained by Royal Malaysia Police on Aug 6 following a two‑hour standoff at a condominium unit booked on Aug 3, the day he was due to surrender for his jail term. Two men, 44‑year‑old Mohammad Adam Abd Karim and 37‑year‑old Sulaiman Muhammad Firdaus, were charged in Singapore on Aug 8 for allegedly helping Lim escape. Adam is believed to have rented the Johor Bahru unit, with witnesses confirming he collected the keys. Both men face one count of conspiracy to defeat the course of justice. Lim, secretary‑general of the People’s Alliance for Reform, was scheduled to check out on Aug 7 but was arrested a day earlier. Singapore police confirmed investigations are ongoing.
