Malaysia Automotive Sales Rise 5% to 73,615 Units in July

1 min read

Malaysia’s automotive industry recorded stronger sales in July, with total industry volume rising 5% year-on-year to 73,615 units from 70,057 units in the same month last year.

The latest figures point to continued resilience in the domestic vehicle market despite mixed performance across passenger and commercial vehicle segments.

July automotive sales gain momentum as passenger vehicles lead growth

Passenger vehicle sales climbed 7% year-on-year to 68,900 units, helping drive overall industry growth. Commercial vehicle sales, however, declined 16% to 4,715 units. Vehicle production also increased 5% to 75,490 units during the month, with passenger vehicle production reaching 71,713 units.

The Malaysian Automotive Association expects the market to maintain momentum in August, supported by promotional campaigns and stronger production activity.

The July performance also comes as the industry continues adapting to changing consumer demand and the growing presence of electrified vehicles. The stronger sales figures provide a positive signal for the sector heading into the second half of 2026.
