Malaysia’s men’s singles struggle continues at home

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s challenge in the men’s singles at the 2026 Malaysia Masters ended early after Leong Jun Hao and Justin Hoh crashed out in the opening round at the Unifi Arena, Bukit Jalil. Jun Hao lost 19-21, 21-23 to China’s Hu Zhe An, while Justin fell 21-16, 21-14 to Indonesia’s Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

Jun Hao admitted off-court issues had affected his focus. In women’s singles, K. Letshanaa and Goh Jin Wei advanced to the second round after impressive wins. However, Wong Ling Ching bowed out in a tough three-game defeat to Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh.
