MCA faces a dire future, squeezed by DAP and PKR for Chinese voter support, risking irrelevance like Gerakan, warns Jalil Backer, President of Angkatan Karyawan Nasional (Akar). To regain its former glory, MCA must reinvent itself, either by joining Perikatan Nasional or becoming an independent opposition force in Parliament. “MCA kini berada di dalam sebuah terowong gelap yang bersimpang siur tanpa cebisan cahaya,” Backer said, saying MCA have to seize the opportunity to become a strong Chinese opposition, especially with DAP in government. MCA must act decisively, leveraging its historical legacy to reclaim relevance and avoid fading into obscurity. One can’t eat the banana on both ends.
