Malaysians Value Degrees but See Room for Improvement in Education

A global Ipsos study reveals that 74% of Malaysians believe that having a college or university degree is essential for success in life. This places Malaysia among the top countries for valuing higher education, with India leading at 80%, followed by Singapore and Malaysia. Despite this, 60% of Malaysians rate their country’s education system as sub-optimal, reflecting high expectations.

Interestingly, 80% of respondents emphasize the importance of teachers receiving training in advanced tech like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to better prepare students for the future, surpassing global and South-east Asia averages. This shows a strong belief in education’s transformative power.
