Discussions around MySARA aid have grown increasingly complex, with many social media users now drawing comparisons to BR1M, the cash assistance program introduced by former Prime Minister Najib Razak. Some argue BR1M was more effective and straightforward than MySARA, sparking debates on X about which scheme better served the rakyat.
Is BR1M Better than MySARA?
An X user claims that the previous initiative is helpful to local SMEs as they would get the benefit of the aid spending. However, with the current state of the aid, only big businesses are benefiting from it rather than the heartland businesses. Additionally, the rakyat would get to choose on what they’d want to get.
However, others fought back citing that the MySARA aid is the stepping stone to the Universal Basic Income, commonly found in Europe and the United States. Additionally, those who need to receive financial aid should focus on buying the essentials to survive rather than spending it on accessories and other non-essential items.
