A 24-year-old Malaysian sub-contractor worker died from injuries sustained in a gas inhalation incident at Choa Chu Kang Waterworks (CCKWW), Singapore. He succumbed in the ICU of Ng Teng Fong General Hospital on Tuesday. Another Malaysian worker, 39, has been moved out of the ICU and is stable.

Poisonous gas incident
The incident on May 23 involved hydrogen sulphide gas inhalation during tank cleaning, causing three workers to collapse; one died that day. Singapore’s National Water Agency (PUB) is supporting the deceased’s family and cooperating with investigations. PUB is reviewing safety protocols and lifting worksite safety timeouts as appropriate measures are verified.
