KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 – PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang announced the termination of political cooperation with Bersatu following a special meeting of the party’s central working committee. He said the decision endorsed the Syura Council of Ulama’s June 2 resolution, citing policy, Shariah, and public interest considerations under the principle of Muslim unity.
Political Cooperation
PAS will now explore new political understandings and electoral pacts ahead of upcoming state elections and the 16th General Election. The move comes after months of tension between PAS and Bersatu, co-founders of Perikatan Nasional, who have clashed repeatedly since December.
