A video showing Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah firing a rifle at a cow during a state‑level Aidiladha korban ceremony in Kuala Perlis has gone viral, prompting police investigation. Abu Bakar explained he shot the animal in the leg after it became aggressive and broke free, saying: “I didn’t shoot the cow for fun. If it gored someone, who would be responsible?”

He cited recent cases of runaway sacrificial animals causing fatalities, including one in Johor. Kangar police confirmed they will summon him to clarify the type of firearm and ammunition used in the incident.
