1 min read

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded when Norhayati Razali, 55, survived a horrific accident that claimed the lives of her husband and two daughters. The crash occurred at 1 a.m. last Wednesday when a Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) truck lost control at the Maju Junction traffic lights along Jalan Sultan Ismail.

Her husband, Shaik Mohd Firdaus Shaikh Yahya, 53, and daughters Siti Nor Sazlin, 25, and Siti Darwisyah Auni, 12, were killed instantly. Norhayati suffered severe injuries to her head, arms, and legs. Yet, in her fragile state, she reportedly remains unaware of their deaths, still asking why her husband has not come to visit her in hospital.

Woman still searching…

A friend of the late Siti Darwisyah shared on Facebook that Norhayati could not recognize the reality of her loss, sparking an outpouring of grief online. The video of her confusion and longing has deeply moved netizens.

On Thursday, truck driver Mohd Akbar Zainol was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court with five counts, including three under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death, and one under Section 43(1) for reckless driving. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of RM60,000.

This tragedy leaves a mother broken, still searching for the shadows of her loved ones.
