Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim warned that global economic systems are becoming less predictable due to geopolitical tensions, trade conflicts, and supply chain disruptions, with energy and climate sectors being most affected.
PM Anwar Calls for Equitable, Inclusive Energy Transition in Asia
At Energy Asia 2025, he urged for stronger regional cooperation, a clear financial framework for renewable energy investment, and equitable energy transition policies. He highlighted Malaysia’s CRESS and green financing initiatives, and ASEAN’s progress with the ASEAN Power Grid.
Stressing energy justice, Anwar called for strategies that balance decarbonisation with affordability and inclusivity, especially for Asia’s vulnerable communities, noting that emissions-abated fossil fuels can complement renewables during the transition.
