In a heated PKR deputy presidency race, incumbent Rafizi Ramli accused the party of orchestrating an uneven contest favoring Nurul Izzah Anwar, the prime minister’s daughter. During his Sarawak campaign, Rafizi claimed the party machinery was mobilized to ensure his defeat, calling it a “do-or-die” fight. Despite open endorsements for Nurul Izzah, he vowed not to withdraw, refusing an uncontested victory. Rafizi, also the economy minister, said losing might free him to speak out more. Aware of likely defeat, his resolve remained unshaken, driven by principle and defiance against pressure to step aside in the contentious PKR election.
