Remand Order Against Rape Case Suspect Who Eluded Cops For 19 years Extended

Police used Matching deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) profile data to solve a rape case dating 2003 resulting in the arrest of the offender and now police have extended his remand order to June 16.

From June 10 to today, the 40-year-old suspect was remanded for four days at the Kerian district police headquarters (IPD), Bagan Serai, to help in the investigation of the case under Section 376 of the Penal Code.

The individual was apprehended at 9.30 p.m. on Thursday around Bagan Serai, Perak, according to Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan.
