Malaysia Identifies RM4 Billion in Urgent Road Repairs, Work to Proceed in Phases
Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said critical routes will be prioritised, beginning with the Gerik–Jeli stretch of the East–West Highway, which will receive RM55 million in upgrades including street lights and road markings.
The ministry uses tech-driven tools like the Pavement Condition Assessment (PCA) and welcomes public feedback to guide decisions. Roads in less severe condition will be addressed later as funds allow. Safety, visibility, and data-backed planning remain top priorities.
