UMNO has urged the government to enforce a royal addendum allegedly issued over a year ago allowing former Prime Minister Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.
UMNO Urges Enforcement of Royal Addendum for Najib’s House Arrest
This comes after the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) confirmed the existence of the decree during a court hearing. UMNO secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki appealed to the King’s constitutional powers under Article 42(1) for mercy.
Najib’s 12-year sentence for SRC International offences was previously halved to six years by the Pardons Board. He remains imprisoned since August 2022 and faces additional trials linked to the 1MDB scandal.
