KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — The Sessions Court heard today that former political secretary Sayed Amir Muzzakkir Al Sayed Mohamad received RM350,000 in cash from Nexuscorpgroup Sdn Bhd (NXG) managing director Wan Azhar Mohamed Yusof as part of a five per cent commission linked to a police project tender.
Wan Azhar testified that after cashing cheques prepared by his finance manager, he contacted Sayed Amir to arrange delivery. “I handed over the money amounting to RM100,000, which was in a paper bag, to Sayed around 4pm on December 4, 2020, and the money amounting to RM250,000, also in a paper bag, was handed over at 3.30pm on December 16, 2020. During the handovers, only Sayed and I were present,” he said.

Cash Handovers
The payments were allegedly made at Sayed’s office at Yayasan Tanah Aku in Publika. Wan Azhar added that Sayed had earlier offered to help NXG secure the RMPNet tender after learning the company was invited to participate.
Sayed Amir, 43, faces three charges under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009 for soliciting and receiving bribes to assist NXG in obtaining the RM381 million tender. Conviction carries up to 20 years’ jail and heavy fines. He was the Pol Sec to former Home Affairs Minister Hamzah Zainudin.
