PETALING JAYA, Aug 22, 2026 – An aide to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang revealed that police have recorded statements from the veteran leader over one of his “Minda Presiden PAS” writings.
Political secretary Syahir Sulaiman, who is also Bachok MP, said Hadi is always prepared to cooperate with authorities, even if Malay DAP leaders allege his speeches and columns could incite public disorder. “Most recently, the PAS president gave a statement to Bukit Aman following several police reports concerning one of his ‘Minda Presiden PAS’ pieces, which allegedly offended DAP,” Syahir said.

He added that Hadi has expressed willingness to face trial if charges are brought against him. The PAS leader previously described secularism as a deviant teaching introduced by Western colonisers, drawing sharp rebukes from DAP leaders including Syahredzan Johan, Young Syefura Othman, Sheikh ‘Umar Bagharib Ali, and Syerleena Abdul Rashid.
Hadi defended his remarks, insisting they were grounded in Islamic scripture, the Federal Constitution, and past DAP statements. He said PAS only allies with parties that do not oppose its Islamic policies, noting Pakatan Rakyat collapsed after DAP resisted Kelantan’s shariah enactment.
